Women with lumps make for a sexy night out
Flamenco dancing is always sexy - even when it's done in the bar of a three-star holiday resort in Costa Brava by a group of locals - but when you see the best that flamenco has to offer, it's jaw-droppingly hot. Mix it with top African dancing and you have a seriously steamy performance.
Paco Peña's Flamenco Dance Company are performing Quimeras at London's Sadler's Wells until December 1st - there are still seats available and it's an extraordinary show that had a standing ovation from a whooping audience when I saw it on the first night. The show is called Quimeras, and it tells the story of a group of migrants who have come to Spain from Africa in search of work. The poise of flamenco mixed with the fluidity of African dance is spectacular and so sexy!
Something that always strikes me about flamenco, and that struck me about the African dancers was that they don't look like stick insects - they have curves and they flaunt them. The Spaniards flaunt them with their tight, precise moves, and the Africans do so with their frenetic, daring ones. Also the older Spanish dancers up there are definitely the best. Experience is what counts here. Paco Peña, who has been playing flamenco guitar for over four decades, is so relaxed - a true professional, just enjoying himself up there with his troupe. Fantastic. PS IT'S STIR-UP SUNDAY TOMORROW - having put together the best collection ever of Christmas cake and pudding recipes, I won't be making either. Can't stand the things! But I will be making this Cranberry Cake from Country Living - I made it last weekend and my family were totally wowed. A real winner. Might put more cranberries in it this time. See more cranberry recipes here. And find all of our Christmas recipes here - we'll be adding more and more right up until December 25th.
