Make a bold display with a selection of plain and striped painted eggs. Using bright colours, paint some eggs all over in one colour. Paint half the egg then place in an eggcup until dry, then paint the other half. Paint the striped eggs freehand, or if you prefer, paint over strips of sticky tape, wait until the paint is dry, then carefully peel off tape. Show off the painted eggs in an egg rack, if you have one, and add yellow feathers. Alternatively, use eggcups, or a cakestand, bowl or basket.

Colour your eggs by painting, or add food colouring to the pan while they boil. Crack the tops off the eggs and tip the yolks and whites into a bowl. Place a candle stub in each eggshell, anchoring it with a few drips of melted wax. Alternatively, invest in some candle-making supplies including wax beads and wicks, and follow the instructions supplied. To finish, place the eggshell lights in eggcups.
