Make wallpaper tablemats
These unique wallpaper tablemats are a charming addition to any dining table. By Sarah Moore

You will need
● Pencil
● Metal ruler, optional
● Cork tiles from DIY shop
● Craft knife (with new blade) and board
● Wallpaper
● PVA glue and brush
How to make
1. Begin by deciding on the shape of your mats. Mark out rectangles on your tiles with a ruler (or draw around the base of a plate or glass to make circles). Carefully cut around the outline with the craft knife, keeping the blade as upright as possible for a clean edge.
2. Using your mats as templates, draw around them on the back of the wallpaper. Cut out each piece.
3. Apply a thin layer of PVA to the cork and carefully smooth on the wallpaper, gently pushing out any creases or air bubbles, and keeping the mat and paper aligned so one side of the cork is completely covered. Leave to dry. Use the craft knife to trim off any overhanging edges.
4. Brush on a layer of PVA over the top. This will help to protect the surface when in use. Leave to dry.
Tip: Add a length of wallpaper down the centre of the table as a runner, and thin strips of paper stuck together with double-sided tape for napkin rings.
