Make a pretty laundry basket

Photo of laundry basket lined with rose print fabric and diagram of how to sew lining

Measure the base of your basket and cut out in fabric, allowing 1cm seam allowances all around.

Measure the sides and cut out from fabric, allowing 1cm seam allowances at sides and bottom and 8cm at top. Make sure sides are wide enough at the top to fold over top edge of basket.

Pin and stitch sides together at side seams and press open. Pin and stitch lower edge of sides to base. Neaten top edge. Press under 2cm and stitch, leaving a gap for elastic.

Thread elastic through hem. Adjust to fit basket. Overlap ends and stitch securely. Sew up gap in hem stitching.

Insert in basket with top folded over top of basket.
