Make a cool cover-up that's so versatile, with six ways to wear it
For a cool cover-up use fine, semi-sheer cotton - or use polyester, which will dry quickly if tied around a wet swimsuit.
Simply stitch a narrow rolled hem around a rectangle of fabric. We used 1m of 160cm-wide loosely woven, lightweight fabric. For a more generous size, use 1.7m or 1.8m of 110cm wide fabric with selvedge running around top and bottom. Check that the fabric design is suitable to use this way round.
1. Tie the sarong around the waist or hip.
2. Wrap the sarong tightly around the body and tuck the end into the waist to hold it in place.
3. Fold the fabric in half lengthways and tie it below the waist for a mini sarong.
4. Bunch up the fabric about 20cm from each end and tie the ends together above your bust.
5. Wrap the sarong around your body and twist the ends once or twice before tying behind your neck.
6. Wrap the sarong around your body and tie the ends behind your neck.
