Turn an old towel into a beach towel with sun cream pocket: free sewing pattern
Sew this beach towel with a handy pocket and you'll never forget to apply sun cream again

You will need
● A bath towel
● 1m striped fabric
● Sewing thread
● Velcro
To make
Cut the woven borders off the bath towel.
Cut a 25cm square from the striped fabric for the pocket. Press and stitch a narrow hem across the top of pocket. Press under 1cm on to the wrong side on the bottom of the towel and left-side edge of the pocket. With right-hand edges level, pin and stitch the pocket 3cm below the top-right corner of towel.
Cut enough 8cm-wide strips of striped fabric to join and trim the outer edge of towel. Press under 1cm on both long edges of trimming. Press the trimming in half lengthwise and place over the raw edge of towel. Stitch in place, joining ends. Attach Velcro to fasten top of pocket to the towel.
Use any leftover fabric to make matching accessories, such as a headscarf.
