Sew a love heart cushion: free sewing pattern

Love heart handmade cushion

To make

Cut two rectangles 33cm x 48cm from red wool for cushion back and one square 48cm x 48cm for front.

Enlarge heart template below to 22cm high and cut out from cream wool. Pin in place to centre of square.

Following the diagram below, use embroidery thread to blanket stitch around outer edge of heart onto cushion front. Press under and stitch a 1.5cm hem across one long edge of each cushion back. With right sides together, lay backs on top of cushion front so hemmed edges overlap. Pin and stitch around outer edge, taking a 1.5cm seam allowance.

Trim seam allowances to 5mm and zigzag stitch to finish seams. Turn right sides out and press. Insert a 45cm x 45cm cushion pad.
