Sew a buttoned lavender bag: free sewing pattern
Sew your own buttoned lavender bags to give drawers a subtle fragrance

To make:
Cut out two 18cm x 15cm pieces of one fabric and two 18cm x 11cm pieces of a coordinating or contrasting fabric. With right sides together, pin and stitch one of each size piece together on long edges. Press the seams open.
On one piece, pin and stitch a length of ribbon along the seam and a different ribbon about 5mm away on the smaller section of fabric. Press. Sew buttons along first ribbon for extra decoration.
Pin and tack ricrac all the way round the edge of the ribbon- trimmed piece of fabric on the right side, easing at the corners so that the centre of the ricrac lines up with the seam allowance. With right sides together, lay the second piece of fabric on top. Pin, tack and machine stitch right round, leaving a 5cm gap at one end.
Trim the corners and the seams to 1cm. Turn the bag right side out and pull corners for a neat finish. Fill the bag with dried lavender, or a mixture of stuffing and a small amount of dried lavender (dried lavender will smell stronger and the scent will last longer). Hand stitch the opening closed.
