Sew a letter cushion: free sewing pattern
Use simple graphics to personalise a bedroom, a chair or sofa with a stylish handmade cushion

You will need
● 2 rectangles of linen 35cm x 40cm
● Bondaweb
● White fabric for letter
● 1 square of oatmeal linen 35cm x 35cm
● 30cm-square cushion filler
● Snap fastener
To make
Iron the Bondaweb to the back of the white fabric for the letter and leave to cool. Draw a letter freehand or enlarge one from a template to about 20cm in height. Turn the letter over and draw around it on the back of the Bondaweb. Cut out and peel off the backing paper.
Place the letter in the centre of the cushion front fabric piece, iron on and leave to cool. Stitch around the letter using a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine, using white sewing thread.
With right sides facing, stitch the longer sides of the fabric together with a 5cm seam allowance, for about 5cm each end, leaving a gap in the middle. Press both seams to one side. With right sides facing, stitch the back to the cushion front all the way round. Trim and notch the corners.
Turn to right side and stitch on a snap fastening to the back opening. Insert cushion filler to finish.
