Make a practical container for all your beauty products
Turn an old basket into a practical container for your beauty supplies, using PVC for a wipe-clean liner.
Spray the basket with primer inside and out, followed by your choice of paint. Make a paper pattern to fit inside.
Measure the size of the straight strip needed for the sides. Cut out from PVC-coated fabric, allowing 1cm seam allowances all round both pieces.
Stitch ends of strip together taking 1cm seam allowances. Stitch one edge of strip to base, taking 1cm seam allowance.
Cut four 50cm lengths of narrow ribbon or bias binding pressed in half and stitched. Turn under 1cm around top edge of fabric.
Fold ties in half and stitch fold to top edge of fabric when stitching around top edge of lining. Put lining inside basket and thread ties through holes in weave. Tie ends in bows.
We used PVC coated fabric from a selection at John Lewis (0845 604 9049) and a garden-centre basket.
