Sew a Union Jack cushion: free sewing pattern
Sew a new version of a traditional design

Cut two rectangles 28cm x 48cm for the back and one rectangle 38cm x 48cm for the front.
Enlarge template below to measure 38cm x 48cm. Trace template pieces onto Bondaweb and iron onto reverse of chosen fabrics. Cut out and remove Bondaweb backing.
Assemble all Union Jack pieces onto the cushion front and iron in place. Zigzag stitch around edges of each piece. Press under and stitch a 1.5cm hem across one long edge of each back. With right sides together, lay backs on top of cushion front so hemmed edges overlap. Pin and stitch around outer edge, taking a 1.5cm seam allowance.
Trim seam allowances to 5mm and zigzag stitch to finish the seams. Turn right side out and press. Insert a 35cm x 45cm cushion pad.
