Sew a sheer rose-petal-filled heart
Make this truly romantic handmade gift or decoration

A sheer fabric heart reveals a soft centre of dried rose petals. You can use the completed heart as a drawer-scenter on its own, or sew it to a Valentine card, or to a cushion, or add a ribbon loop to hang it up.
You will need
● scissors
● sheer fabric such as chiffon, voile or muslin
● needle and thread or sewing machine
● heart-shaped button
● dried rose petals (available from www.potpourrishop.co.uk and Hobbycraft)
Cut two heart shapes and one small heart shape from the fabric. Click here for all kinds of heart-shaped templates. Make the large heart around 10cm wide, and the smaller one around 2cm wide.
Centre the small heart on one of the larger hearts, and stitch in place with the button.
Place the two large heart shapes together and sew around the edge, leaving a gap on one of the rounded edges.
Fill the heart with dried rose petals, then sew up the gap.
