Shopping for jeans: a whole new option

Shopping for jeans: a whole new option - buy jeans - womens fashion - fashion & beauty -

Recently on All About You, we took a fashion poll; what’s your preference – jeans or leggings? The answer was overwhelmingly ‘leggings’ with most people citing ease of buying and ease of wear as the deciding criteria.

Well, all you ‘leggings’ people may be very interested to know about a new UK denim brand, launched in autumn 2014, that combines the style and cut of jeans with the ease of leggings. (Because no matter how much you love your leggings, you certainly wouldn’t attach the words ‘style’ and ‘cut’ to them.)

Saltspin’s aim is to produce tailored jeans with a cut and technical design that’s so carefully crafted, it looks and feels made to measure. You know the way your leggings give that figure-hugging fit – well, that’s the idea here. Currently 40 styles are available, from skinny to straight to boot cut, in a colour palette from black to pale grey to indigo – you can even relive the ‘80s with a beach bleached look!

And after rifling through several racks of designs at the recent launch, I’m impressed with the offering. The denim is super-soft – yes, just like my leggings – and each style is beautifully finished. But here’s the best bit.

I don’t buy jeans any more – I haven’t for years – because I can’t bear having to spend hours in a changing room, endlessly fitting on different styles to find the right fit. I shudder at the thought of it. Saltspin jeans are available exclusively online, with complimentary UK delivery and – if you’re in London – same-day delivery at no extra charge. It’s easy to make returns, so you can try on in the comfort of home and never darken the door of a jeans’ changing room again.

Of course, unlike leggings they don’t come cheap, but a good pair of jeans will last you for years once you find your perfect fit. See below for our top tips on shopping for jeans.

Saltspin jeans are priced from £180 to £310,

When trying on jeans, always remember to:

● Sit down to make sure the waistband doesn’t sag at the back
● Try the next size down if the size you normally wear fits easily – remember denim will stretch and ‘give’ as it wears
● Get advice from friends –send a photo from home as you try on, a legitimate reason for snapping selfie!
