What can I do about my itchy scalp?

Q I suffer from a persistently itchy scalp, but I don't have dandruff. How can I stop the itching?

A Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly after washing and conditioning to ensure there's no product residue on the scalp. Poor circulation could also be the cause - try stimulating the blood flow to the head through massage or taking more exercise. If this doesn't do the trick, stop using any styling products for a few weeks, then gradually re-introduce them, one a week. If the itching starts again when you use a certain product, you'll know it's the culprit and can start searching for an alternative that's kinder to your skin. Perfume-free products are best as fragrances can irritate the scalp.
