Tip 1: Share time

With only 24 hours in the day it can seem difficult to get some good quality time in with your loved ones. Changing the way you handle time with your family can make a big difference; so instead of setting dinner up in front of the TV for example, make sure everyone in the house has dinner at the same time and sit together on one table, with the TV turned off. This helps you focus on each other without any distractions.

Tip 2: Share hobbies

Although we share genes with our families, it doesn’t automatically mean we share the same interests and hobbies. Find out what your family members like doing in their spare time and think of ways you can get involved with and bond with them. Does your little one like football? Spend a sunny afternoon at the park kicking a ball around. Do you like crafts? Get some old photos together, glue, glitter and crayons and spend a couple of hours altogether creating a family scrapbook.

Tip 3: Share feelings

Spending quality time with your loved ones will do wonders for their emotional needs. When spending time together ask questions about their day and how they feel about certain things. They’ll feel valued and important and you’ll know more about their thoughts, fears and ideas.

Tip 4: Share things

Whether it\'s games night, a family meal or your teenage daughter wanting to borrow your new handbag, sharing things can build trust in a family relationship. You may be worried that the kids will squabble, or something may get lost or damaged, but you\'ll find that trusting your family will gain you respect in the long term.
