What is it? A snowy-themed 10km run around London to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
When is it? Sunday 1 February 2015
Anything else I should know? The route takes in some of the capital's most iconic sights, including the Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral. But just in case that isn't scenic enough, runners will also weave in and out of frosty ice caves and 'snow zones' around the course. Oh, and you can look forward to receiving a polar bear hug when you cross the finish line.

Anything else I should know? As in previous years, everyone who takes part in The MoonWalk is expected to wear a decorated bra. This year's theme? Saturday Night At The Movies. Men can take part, too - as long as they wear a bra.

What is it? Rightly billed as 'the world's greatest half-marathon', the Great North Run heads from Newcastle to South Shields. Its younger sibling, the Great South Run, is a 10-mile race in Portsmouth.
When is it? This year's Great North Run takes place on Sunday 13 September 2015. The Great South Run is a few weeks later, on Sunday 25 October 2015.
Anything else I should know? Can't get to Portsmouth or Newcastle? The Bupa Great Run series also includes events in other cities around the UK, including Edinburgh, Birmingham and Sheffield.

What is it? A series of four family walks - in London, the Severn Bridge, Windsor and Oxford - to raise money for the Red Cross. Distances range from four to eight miles.
When is it? Various dates throughout May and June 2015.
Anything else I should know? The emphasis here is on fun, fundraising and sightseeing - so you shouldn't have to train too hard. The dress code? Red, red and more red. And if your walking shoes don't happen to be red, don't worry: you'll be given a free pair of shoe covers when you enter.

What is it? A 54-mile cycle ride from Clapham Common in London to the seafront at Brighton. The aim? To raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
When is it? Sunday 21 June 2015
Anything else I should know? Europe's oldest and largest charity bike ride celebrates its 40th birthday this year. More than 25,000 people are expected to take part, so the roads can get a little crowded. The biggest challenge, though, is the climb up Ditchling Beacon: at 813ft, it's the ride's highest point.

Anything else I should know? Although still a challenge, these events focus on having fun with friends and family, and enjoying the rural scenery. The circular routes are fully signposted and refreshments will be provided around the course.
