The best ways to remove ballpoint pen stains

Fabric
Sponge with a proprietary dry-cleaning solvent until the ink stops bleeding. Rinse thoroughly, then sponge the stain with surgical spirit. Let it air-dry. If the stain remains, rub liquid laundry detergent into the stain. Let it stand overnight. Rinse, apply prewash stain remover, then wash as usual.
Upholstery
Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with a proprietary dry-cleaning solvent. Blot until the solvent is absorbed. Keep sponging and blotting until the stain disappears.
Carpet
Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with a proprietary dry-cleaning solvent and blot until the solvent is absorbed. Mix one tablespoon of washing up liquid and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with the detergent/vinegar solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Apply dry-cleaning solvent again and repeat the process until the stain disappears. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the detergent/vinegar solutions.
