Stain Buster — Mustard

Fabric

Scrape off excess mustard. Rub glycerine into the stain with your fingertips and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water. Wash on the hottest possible setting, adding bleach if safe for that particular fabric.

 

OR

Scrape off excess mustard. Rince under cold running water to loosen the stain. Pretreat with a prewash stain remover. Wash on the hottest possible setting with bleach if safe for the fabric.

 

Upholstery

Scrape off excess mustard. Mix one tablespoon of washing up liquid with two cups of cool water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Keep sponging and blotting until the stain disappears.Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the detergent solution.

 

Carpet

Scrape off excess mustard. Mix one tablespoon of washing up liquid with two cups of warm water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Keep sponging and blotting until the stain disappears.

If the stain remains, mix one tablespoon of ammonia (warning: never mix chlorine bleach and ammonia – the resulting fumes are hazardous) with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with the ammonia solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the ammonia solution.
